How to Make Sure You Look Good in Photos - Devezin Cosmetics

Whether you're attending a big event or just taking a new Facebook profile picture, you want to look your best. These simple tips will help to ensure you're always camera ready.

Just about everyone has a digital camera within reach these days, so you never know when you’ll be caught on camera. Prepare for your next snapshot with these beauty and style tips for photos.

Love the Lens
What you may see as a flaw — a space between your front teeth, big ears, or tons of freckles — others see as endearing. Those are the traits that make you you, so use them to your advantage and embrace them with confidence.

It sounds like a ‘duh’ moment, but smile, says celebrity makeup artist Eric Devezin. It brightens up the face and makes you appear confident, which can really make the difference between a great photo and an okay photo.
Confidence is essential, and if you’re having fun in the photo, your makeup and clothing will be secondary.

A shiny T-zone doesn’t look attractive in any situation. Before applying your makeup, start with an oil-absorbing primer like Devezin Cosmetics Face Canvas/ Face Primer ($14.00)

Then, after applying your makeup, lightly dust with  Devezin Cosmetics Mineral Rice Powder ($22.50) Rather then having to carry around blotting papers to suck up excess oil throughout the day. This works exactly the same.

Emphasize Your Eyes
The secret is to focus on your eyes and add color to your lips and cheeks. Since cameras and flashes tend to make your eyes look smaller, take your normal eye makeup up a few notches, and make sure to use eyeliner says Creative Director Devezin.

Use a black liner on the top inner rims of your eyes to make your lashes appear fuller, and apply a nude or white liner on the bottom inner rims to make your eyes pop.

Open up your eyes by curling your lashes before applying mascara. If you’re preparing for a special event, add some false lashes to the outer corners for a more dramatic effect.

Find Your Best Angle
You never want a camera to catch you straight on or sideways, By varying your stance, tilting your head, or moving around, you can look ten pounds thinner. Look at photos of your favorite celebrities on the red carpet and practice posing in front of your mirror to find out which angles work best for you.

Dress for the Occasion
Since photos last a lifetime, you want to wear clothing and accessories that are simple and make you feel relaxed so you’re able to exude confidence.

Solid colors are timeless and a great choice for staged pictures — like head shots or engagement photos — that you’re going to refer to for a long time. Patterns may quickly become outdated but they can be perfect for capturing a fun, spontaneous moment.

Since you never know what angle you’ll be photographed from, you should think of a photo as capturing 360 degrees. That means the cut of your clothing matters, too. Always go for cuts that are close to the body so you don’t add unnecessary pounds for the camera. If you’re thin, you may want to add volume with a full skirt or loose blouse. To appear slimmer, opt for tailored cuts or straight-leg pants.

Mini Brow Kit -For Filling In Eyebrows- Devezin Cosmetics

Mini Brow Kit - Devezin Cosmetics

Sparse or thinning eyebrows could be the result of a medical condition like hypothyroidism, nutritional deficiencies, the natural aging process, or simply overzealous tweezing. Whatever the cause (and you should check with your doc to rule out any serious conditions), you can reclaim a beautiful eyebrow shape with this primer on eyebrow shading.
When you're filling in your eyebrows yourself, Rule No. 1 is: Don't be scared! You can do it without having that obvious drawn-in look. The key is to use brow powder or powder eye shadow (much more subtle than using a pencil, which can create strong lines).
Before adding color, first determine where your eyebrows should begin, peak, and end. "Once the brow shape is defined, the thickness is then a matter of choice based on the individual's personal style," says Eric Devezin, makeup artist and creative director for Devezin Cosmetics.
Here are Devezin's tips for finding your eyebrow shape:
  1. Figure out where your eyebrow begins by placing a pencil vertically against the side of your nose and the inner corner of the eye. This is the starting point.
     2. Next place the pencil diagonally from the side of your nostril to the center of the pupil — this is the  highest point of the arch. Make sure the pencil is vertical, since any slight angle will throw off the brow shape.
  1. Lastly, to determine where the brow tapers off, place the pencil from the side of the nostril to the outside corner of the eye. This is the end point.

Mark these three points on each of your eyebrows using an eye pencil, visually connect the dots, then tweeze or wax off hairs that fall out of bounds.
To fill with brow powder, choose a shade close to your natural hair color (or one or two shades deeper if you have pale eyebrows), then follow the steps below.
  1. Apply brow wax (or ChapStick!) on your eyebrows as a base.
  2. Dip an angled liner brush into our brow maker. brush on brow powder and using short, light strokes "draw" hairs over the new brow shape you created, starting from the center of the brow outward. To define the underside of the brow or to fill in very sparse areas, apply a bit more pressure.
  3. Blend the color with a brow brush or clean toothbrush.
  4. Finally, use a spooley brush (it looks like a mascara wand) to apply clear eyebrow gel onto your brows for extra hold.
Women with very light-colored eyebrow hair can "thicken" their brows with colored brow gels and brow tints in a shade or two darker than their natural color. These products, which often come in 2-in-1 packaging, resemble mascara, but the formulas are lighter in texture and have less pigment. However, it takes a little practice to master brushing on the color without getting it on your skin.
Whether you're filling in your eyebrows temporarily or need to permanently add it to your beauty routine, these tips will help you fake your way to lush, shapely eyebrows.

Mastering A Perfect Smoky Eye

In terms of eye makeup, is there anything sexier and more sophisticated than the classic Smoky Eye Look?
There sure isn’t!  That’s why almost every page of today’s magazines has a picture of a beautiful model or a celebrity sporting  (what else?) – the smoky eye look!
So, if you feel you are ready to join this fabulous team, and you too want to master the perfect Smoky Eye technique, you came to the right place!
If you are looking to create a natural smokey eye like the one Angelina Jolie had in Tourist movie :

For a classic smokey eye simply follow the 7 easy steps below and before you know it, you’ll be rocking the gorgeous Smoky Eye Look yourself!

Getting Your Eyes Ready

Begin by applying a light shade of concealer to the under eye area, and all over the top lid. Your mineral makeup foundation is a great concealer for this step and prepares your Eyes for the eyeshadow that you are
going to apply.

Step 2 – Using the Liner

First, line both the top and bottom rims with an eye pencil, paying close attention to going into the lash line itself.
If you have small eyes apply liner starting from the middle of the under eye to the outside of the eye. If your eyes are large feel free to line from corner to corner.
Hint: If you are using liquid liner you can place dots on the lash line and then follow the dots to get a perfectly straight line. I knew those connect the dot puzzles I did as a kid would come in handy some day!

Step 3 – Adding the Shadow

With a small eye shadow brush or a q-tip, soften the edges of the eye pencil line.
Apply a dark shadow using a sponge-tip applicator, smudge brush or a q-tip directly over the penciled area and smudge. (If you prefer, you can use your finger tip.)
The shadow helps to set and soften the look.

Step 4  - The Final Touch

Next apply a lighter shadow in a neutral tone with a larger eye shadow brush, I like to use the wet/dry brush.
Encircling the entire eye area, be sure to soften and graduate outward for that perfect blended look.

Add mascara!

Step 5 – Cleaning up

Brush away any shadow that has fallen below the eye with a fluffy brush and clean up any areas that have smeared with a q-tip.

Step 6 - Going Super-Dramatic

Want a more dramatic look add more Shadow and mascara! If you are looking for the most dramatic effect be sure to curl those lashes and apply 2-3 coats of black mascara!
Hint: Want your eyes to look larger – Pull your liner upward when lining your bottom lashes instead of out from the top liner! This will make your eyes look larger and rounder!

Step 7 – Finishing up The Lips

If you want to go for a classic smoky eye look, lightly line lips with a natural color and add some sheer color in peach, caramel, or barely there pink.
You might try the Nude look on the lips with your smoky eyes –
If you want to add more drama to your look, line your lips with a darker lip-liner and fill it in with a deep color to get that look from beauty ads.

Both, the nude lip and the deep dark pout are very “it” this season.  So, it’s up to you to decide which look is better for you.
And the last, but not least, don’t forget to put some natural looking blush on your cheeks.  It will ad some color to your complexion.

Now!  You’ve got the look!  Work It!
