Sun Protection Tips From a Guy Who Loves Summer Time

Sheer Miracle Powder AM / PM - Devezin Cosmetics

Surfing, Paddle-boarding or just having fun in the Sun can be so much fun that you might forget to take the necessary precautions. Here, get a pro's tips on how to keep your skin and hair healthy.

Fit celebs like Kate Hudson, Matthew McConaughey, and Julia Roberts have all been photographed paddleboarding, and many others have been brave enough to ditch the paddle and go straight for the surfboard. However, having fun out on the water — under the sun — can take a toll.
Here's what I recommend-

Cover up! The dose of sun you get when you’re out all day is intense. So a natural sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and lip balm with SPF. Devezin also suggests wearing a long-sleeve rash guard (like the ones made by Athleta) and encourages his surfer girls to wear long board shorts, which come down to the knee, to protect their skin from the sun, and their legs from getting chafed by the board.

Rinse. Help protect your hair by rinsing and saturating it with freshwater before going into the ocean. When you come out, rinse yourself off, and rinse out your gear and your bathing suit to stave off the corrosive effects of the salt.
Tread lightly. Eric believes that complicated beach shoes are both tacky and a waste of time. In his opinion, the ultimate beach shoe for protecting your feet is a light flip-flop that you can quickly slip on and off, like the ones made by Havaianas.

Have fun! “We make women out of girls.” Since 1999, Eric and his crew of professionals have taught thousands of women how to look good and feel good. Says Eric: “It’s an absolutely life-changing experience. It’s far more than just having fun in the Sun — it’s a lifestyle that connects you to your soul. It’s powerful.”
