Legendary makeup artist Dick Smith passed away on July 30, 2014 at age 92. Smith is known for his special effects makeup work on films including The Exorcist , The Godfather and Amadeus . Dick was often referred to as "The Godfather of Make-up" and worked as NBC's first makeup director. He received an Academy Award for Makeup for his work on the movie Amadeus . Makeup artist Rick Baker tweeted, "The master is gone. My friend and mentor Dick Smith is no longer with us. The world will not be the same."
